Photography & Media Policy
The full code governing photography, filming, broadcasting and image licensing at every event of the Noble House of Brattleby — designed to safeguard the privacy of our guests and the dignity of the House.

The Noble House of Brattleby has held photographic records of its life and ceremonies since the very first plate-glass portrait commissioned by the Ninth Baroness in 1854. The image is, for our family, a sacred form of memory — and so the rules under which images are taken, kept, and shared are taken with corresponding seriousness. This policy applies to every gathering held in the name of the House, whether at the estate in Lincolnshire, at the Winter Banquet at the Royal Horseguards Hotel in London, at the Noble Tea ceremonies in Bucharest, or at any chamber lecture, charity gala, or diplomatic reception held under our patronage.
The policy is administered by the Press & Communications Office of the House, under the direct authority of Honorary Lord Răzvan Vasile (by marriage). Any question of interpretation is decided by the Office; any breach is addressed in the first instance by polite request, and only thereafter by withdrawal of accreditation.
1. Personal & Guest Photography
- ✦ Personal photography by guests is welcome at every Brattleby event, on condition that the consent of any other guest captured in the frame is respected.
- ✦ Flash photography is discouraged in heritage rooms, in the chapel, and during the seated portion of any banquet.
- ✦ Photographs of children require the verifiable consent of a parent or guardian present at the event.
- ✦ The use of selfie sticks, monopods, and tripods is restricted to designated areas at events; please consult the steward at the door.
- ✦ Personal photographs may be shared on social media; commercial reuse requires written consent.
2. Press, Editorial & Commercial Accreditation
- ✦ All press accreditation must be requested at least fourteen days in advance via press@brattleby.com.
- ✦ Applications must include the publication, intended use, technical equipment, and biographical details of the photographer.
- ✦ Editorial usage of accredited images is licensed free of charge in perpetuity, with credit to the Noble House of Brattleby.
- ✦ Commercial, advertising, and merchandising usage requires a separate licence and a usage fee, set on a case-by-case basis by the Press Office.
- ✦ The high-resolution archive of past events — including Getty Images and Click! Magazine licensed sets — is available to bona fide press by application.
- ✦ Filming for documentary and broadcast purposes is administered separately by the Filming Office; please consult the dedicated page.
3. Social Media & Digital Sharing
- ✦ Guests are warmly invited to share images on social media using respectful captions worthy of the House.
- ✦ Please tag @HouseOfBrattleby and use #NobleHouseOfBrattleby.
- ✦ Live streaming, Instagram Live, TikTok Live, and equivalent broadcast features require advance written consent at private events.
- ✦ Captions and hashtags must not impute political, commercial, or contentious associations to the House without consent.
- ✦ The use of AI-generated or altered imagery purporting to depict members of the House is strictly prohibited.
4. Drones, Aerial Photography & Restricted Areas
- ✦ Unmanned aerial vehicles are not permitted at any event of the Noble House of Brattleby without explicit written consent and, where required, CAA clearance.
- ✦ Backstage, private and reserved areas at any venue used by the House are closed to all photography in any form.
- ✦ Aerial filming for documentary or editorial use is arranged solely through the Filming Office.
5. Copyright, Licensing & Takedown
- ✦ Copyright in all official photography vests in the Noble House of Brattleby.
- ✦ Editorial reuse is granted under a free perpetual licence, on condition of accurate caption and credit.
- ✦ Commercial reuse — including book covers, advertising, branded products, and stock-image redistribution — requires a paid licence.
- ✦ Takedown requests by guests featured in any photograph are honoured within five working days, save where the image is of unequivocal journalistic record.
- ✦ All Press Office decisions on licensing and takedown are final and may not be appealed save by direct application to Honorary Lord Răzvan Vasile (by marriage).
6. Contacting the Press Office
- ✦ All correspondence: press@brattleby.com
- ✦ Accreditation requests must be received at least fourteen days before the event.
- ✦ The Press Office acknowledges all enquiries within two working days and answers within seven.
- ✦ Out-of-hours requests for breaking-news enquiries are handled via the duty press officer.
