This statement covers the digital accessibility of brattleby.com. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and we treat this as an ongoing commitment rather than a finished project.
There is no physical estate, house or venue at Brattleby, so this statement does not cover physical premises. Our real-world activities — the Noble House of Brattleby Club, the Winter Banquet, the Noble Tea, and the Monte Carlo chapter — take place at hired venues in London and Bucharest. Access arrangements at those venues (step-free access, hearing loops, dietary and sensory requirements) are the responsibility of, and are handled by, the venue, and can be discussed with us in advance by email so that we can help coordinate.

Visual Access
We aim for WCAG 2.2 AA minimum contrast ratios across the site. Body text is set in Lora at 16-18px with generous line-height; headings use Playfair Display at clearly distinguished sizes. The site supports browser zoom to 400% without horizontal scrolling. Images carry descriptive alt text written by the editorial team.
Auditory Access
Video content is accompanied by captions in English, and written transcripts are provided for audio content where practicable.
Motor & Keyboard Access
The site is intended to be operable by keyboard alone. Focus indicators aim to be clearly visible on every interactive element. No interaction should rely on a hover, a long-press, or a precise gesture. Modal dialogs are designed to trap focus correctly and to be dismissed by the Escape key.
Cognitive Access
The site uses a consistent navigation pattern across every page. Plain-English alternatives accompany more scholarly editorial content where possible. The site avoids time-limited interactions and does not auto-play audio or video with sound.
Events in London & Bucharest
The Winter Banquet (London) and the Noble Tea (Corinthia, Bucharest) are held at hired hotel venues. Accessibility features such as step-free access, lifts, hearing loops and accessible facilities are provided and managed by those venues, not by the House. If you have a specific access requirement, please tell us when you book, and we will pass this on to the venue and confirm arrangements with you in advance.
