Noble Match

The Barony of Brattleby is a title of honour associated with the Lincolnshire village of Brattleby; there is no house or estate of that name. The twelve historical barons and baronesses used in this quiz are characters of the House's imaginative heritage narrative rather than documented individuals, and the matching is offered as entertainment, not history.

They include the Crusader-Baron Sir Edmund (1150–1217), who took the cross with Richard Lionheart; the Charter-Baroness Lady Eleanor (1268–1340), who codified Brattleby tenant rights two centuries before similar charters elsewhere; the Tudor-courtier Lord Thomas (1525–1597), survivor of three monarchs; the Restoration host Lord William (1640–1712), correspondent of John Evelyn; the Regency reformer Lady Isolde (1782–1861), founder of the village school; and the contemporary Baron Mihai Alexandru Crăciun, 13th Baron of Brattleby, whose stewardship is documented in real-time across this site.

Each question is a forced-choice between four temperaments. The four traits we measure — courage, wit, faith, mercy — were selected after a 2024 cross-referencing of Brattleby family papers with the Five-Factor Model of personality (Costa & McCrae, 1992) and the medieval cardinal virtues of fortitude, prudence, justice and temperance. Your answers update a running trait-vector; at completion, the vector is compared against each baron's documented profile by Manhattan distance, and the closest match is returned. A compatibility percentage is computed and capped at the 40–99 range so that even outlier results retain meaning.
